Oral Surgery

The goal of modern dentistry is to prevent tooth loss. When a tooth cannot be saved, extraction (removal) of the tooth may be the only course of treatment. A panoramic x-ray may be taken to see a complete picture of the alignment of your teeth and jaw and to evaluate if there is sufficient space for your third molars (wisdom teeth) to erupt in to a healthy position. This x-ray also is part of our cancer exam and a diagnostic tool for evaluating the supporting bone for unknown abscesses, cysts, or tumors. Some surgeries and extractions may be beyond our capabilities and will be referred to a certified maxillofacial oral surgeon for treatment.
